MG Car Repair: Mg midget intake maniold bolts-lower, box end wrench, heatshield

QUESTION: 1978 Mg Midget.  I am removing the intake manifold,have the carb, heatshield,and heatshield bracket off.  I dont know how to reach the two(2)? lower bolts.  What tool do I use. thanks Jim

ANSWER: The lower manifold bolts can be removed with a 1/2 in open end wrench by reaching under the manifold.

QUESTION: It is very tight and  you cannot get a open end wrench in there.  It will have to be a cut down socket with a flexible joint or??

I have removed many of these manifolds from the 1500 Midgets (Spitfire engine) and even though it was 25 to 30 years ago, I nor any of the other mechanics in the shops I worked in, needed any special tools to remove the manifolds.
So you just need to look at Box end wrenches or what will reach up under the manifold and get on the nuts. Maybe an offset box end wrench.
