Military Vehicle Repair: m1010 wont start, spare parts business, fuse block

i just  bought  a  m1010 ambulance  that  came  from  border  patrol in  california,  only  had  9500 miles.  it  had  been  cannabalized  some,  no  batteries,  missing  upper  alternator,  being  in  the  military  truck spare  parts  business  we  came  up  with  those  parts  no  problem.  under  the  dash  is  a  2  piece  plug  in  ,  that  is  unplugged ,  however  you  can  see  what  looks  like  a  printed  circuit  board  inside.   this  vehicle  wont  crank  from  the  seat,  but with  the  barest  whiff  of  ether  and  it  busts  off  and  runs  wonderful.  after  it  warms  up  it  cranks  every  time.could  i plug  this  back  in  and  solve  my  problem,  will  the  glow  plugs  work  with  this  unplugged? i  didnt  see  any  toggle  switch,  like  maybe  they  had  wired  around  it.please  advise,  i  want  to  coninue  making  this  my  red  neck  motor home.

The glow plug controller is above the brake pedal. It is a plastic housing about four inches wide, about six inches long, and about an inch thick. There is a plastic cap on the end, and a circuit board inside.
It is probably hanging there by the wires, or zip tied near the fuse block.

The relay it controls is under the hood, on the firewall.

The two piece plug you are talking about I don't know. Try it.
