Military Vehicle Repair: 12 conversion, fort sill oklahoma, prime target

Question
Van, My truck is also whats left of a 1010. Mine now has a pickup bed on it and was converted over. I was also told that the air conditioning compressor that came with my truck used to be located on the driver side of my truck under the hood. I have replaced all of the regulators and electrical pieces on my truck, and it has been very expensive. The last time I took my starter in the gentleman asked me if I would be interested in converting it to 12 volts. I was also looking for another cucv and came across one the guy claims is armored. Did they make such a truck? It looks like a regular pickup from the pictures he sent me. He says it also has air conditioning. He told me neither one of the doors windows roll down. He wants 6000.00 for it and it has 66,000 miles on it.

Answer
Hi Nate,
Yes, the compressor was on the drivers side...and it was only for an air conditioner mounted above the cab, in the front of the ambulance body.

The armored one, I have only heard about here. But it is a possibility that some were built for command vehicles, or to haul a high ranking official around incognito. A Limmo would be a prime target in a war zone.
If that is true, the windows may be bulletproof glass.
Any chance you might send the pictures to me? I don't want it, but would like to see it.
I was in the military many years ago, and didn't work on these there, only where I work now. But I am located right against Fort Sill, Oklahoma. They have hundreds of the trucks there. I'll see if anyone at DRMO knows anything about armor plated ones.
