Military Vehicle Repair: alternator for m1008, m1008, isolated ground

Question
1985 M1008
6.2L desiel
4X4
24 volt starting system

I need a replacement alt. for the driver's side of my truck. A bearing is going bad and the brushes need to be replaced. I have a part number for an alt. but i'm not sure that is is the right one "1105500", do you have the part #'s. Is there a civilian alternator that i could use?

thanks.

Answer
Hello Chris,
That is a civilian alternator. There are two alternators on the truck, and they are both identical, and interchangable.
They are just 100 amp delcos, with isolated ground.
Most any starter/alternator repair shop can fix them.

If you just want to get a replacement, www.memphisequipment.com/ is the place to go.

But civilian wise, you can go to a parts house for heavy trucks, and they should be able to get one for you.

The alternators are NOT 24 volt. The only thing on that truck that is 24 volt is the starter.
