Answer
1. Maintenance Mechanic
2. Maintain a fleet of firetrucks, law enforcement vehicles, and maintenance trucks for a wildlife refuge.
3. Pretty much just work on whatever is needed on some of the vehicles. Work with wildlife, such as bison, cattle, deer and elk when needed. Fight wildfires and rescue rock climbers.
4. I work 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, except when there is an emergency. I work in a mountainous area of Oklahoma. Nice buildings and shop, and beautiful country.
5. No specific education for my job. Experience is more important. But training can be recieved at most vocational/technical schools, and in the military.
6. Just be a mature individual in good physical condition. A good driving record, good coordination and vision.
7. There will always be a need for automotive and equipment mechanics, but the trend leads toward more electronics training due to the hi-tech control systems.
8. I make $20.00 per hour, but the same job pays more in some other areas of the country, and less in others.
Starting salary for this job is about $14.00 per hour.
9. Someone with a desire to find the cause of a problem and fix it. An inquisitive mind, logical thinking, and even temper.
10. Equipment mechanic, electrician, electronics technician.
11. Gee...I go to work in the morning, see what is having problems, diagnose and repair the problems, and go home.
I am covered by insurance that I pay part on, and a retirement system that I pay into. My schedule is as flexable as I need. I get about five weeks of vacation per year, and I earn 12 sick days a year.
12. I do what I like to do in a beautiful place, and get paid for it also.
13. I don't know exactly what inspired me...just the sounds, smells, and satisfaction in a good job.
14. I would recommend that everyone find a job they just love to go to, and if fixing machines is what you like, then I recommend it.
15. They always supported my decisions.
16. Probably one of the powerful muscle cars from the 60's.
17. There are many well made vehicles, both American made, and foreign. Rather than a favorite brand, I like specific things about different brands.
18. Cars are usually made in large cities with good transportation systems for shipping reasons, and good labor supply.
19.Keeping up with the constantly changing technology is difficult. Some of the manufacturers really don't want independent mechanics working on their new vehicles, and are hesitant to share training and knowledge. So diagnosing problems is a constant learning process.
20. I have no real answer for this question, cause I am at the other end of the car life cycle. I believe I have heard that it is only several hours from start to finish, but there are hundreds of people on an assembly line, and each just does a single small task on each one as it travels by.
21. Generally there are more males doing the type of work that I do, but that is changing some. There is no reason that females can't do it just as well as males, and there are many good female mechanics, with the number growing all the time.
22.I don't really hate anything about my job. Some of the dirty, greasy, oily tasks may not be as much fun as discovering an elusive problem and correcting it, but I don't hate them.
23. My father did some, as well as a few nephews, and a niece. My daughter even did a little, but finished her training as a veterinarian, and moved on.
24. I don't think 16 is too young to drive. Maturity is actually more important than age, anyway. There maybe should be more restrictions on night time driving, icy weather, and interstate driving, such as a certain amount with a parent before just being turned loose with a bunch of teen agers, but again, maturity should be the deciding factor.
25. I am not sure, but I don't drive if I have had even one drink. My drivers license is way too important to me to risk it, and I would really feel terrible if I were to hurt someone, so I just don't chance it, and think everyone should have the same standards as mine, and there would not be any drunk driving accidents.
I'm not against drinking...it's just that a vehicle in the control of someone impaired is a powerful and dangerous thing.
26. True? Probably yes. You are in a large protective structure, controlled by a professional, with nothing but safe driving on his or her mind. (generally.)
27.I think two or three. Many have more.
28. Probably yes, the engineers are working on that constantly.
29. There is probably not a single way that cars themselves are beneficial, but they provide the mobility that allows a great deal of environamentally beneficial work to be done.

You are welcome for the time. I assume you are doing this as a school assignment, and hope that the time I gave will help you in your studies, and maybe even help in your plans for the future.
Good luck,
