Military Vehicle Repair: chevy hard start hot 6.2 turbo diesel, turbo diesel, glow plugs

Question
I HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS A 96 CHEVY TURBO DIESEL THAT WONT START HOT, STARTS OK COLD. WE HAVE REPLACED THE GLOW PLUG CONTROLLER AND NO CHANGE. WHERE IS THE TEMP SENSOR THAT TELLS THE GLOW PLUGS TO WORK HOT OR COLD? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Answer
Hi Don,
On the right front corner of the engine, with I believe an orange and a white wire going to it.
I have only had to change one, but it acted like that.
Are you sure you are getting fuel?
I had a truck that grew progressivly worse, the longer it ran. Then would be fine in the morning. Turned out that one of the guys lost a fuel cap, and bought one in a parts house. It was a gas cap, and not vented. Formed a vacuum in the tank as it ran. Just a thought.

Good luck,
Van
