Mitsubishi Repair: mitsubishi 2.4, dashboard light, faulty sensor

Car stalls frequently when moving from Park to Reverse. What are likely causes? I just put this engine in it (2001 Gallant) and everything runs fine except this problem. What should the idle rpms be? Could that be it or is it likely a sensor. I have an OBD!! reader but the only code that showed up so far was for the oxygen sensor and I replaced it and it took care of the engine light. Thanks

You may have a faulty torque converter or your cable linkage may need adjustment. Your transmission has its own computer and will display its own dashboard light if there was a faulty sensor. You should have a transmission shop have a look to see if this is a mechanic problem and get their recommendation for a fix.
