Mitsubishi Repair: intermittent like a tinging sound., crank pulley, wd 40

have a 1993 eclipse 2.0 liter non turbo, afte driving on the highway or at 65-75 for a bit, i start hearing a intermittant tinging sound that sounds like its coming from behind the crank pulley. If i spray some Wd 40 on the pulley it goes away? any ideas? doesnt seem to affect performance just noise.

The noise could be a result of your crank seal warping a bit or the crank pulley being slightly out of balance.  If this noise is not having any other negative affect on the engine, then you may want to leave it as it is, or have it looked at the next time you have your timing belt replaced.
