Mitsubishi Repair: 98 mitsubishi spyder radio, mitsubishi spyder, preset buttons

Question
my car radio will not reset to allow the unlock code to be entered. I have tried leaving the key in the acc position from 1 hr or more and also disconnecting the battery, both with no success. is there some other way to reset the radio and then enter the security code?

Answer
Terrence,
Here are the steps that work for others that have asked:

1. If your radio is already "stolen" (won't accept more codes), you have to apply power to it for 1 hour. Turn the ignition to ACC and turn the radio off - 'oFF' will should in the display. Go watch a movie, get some food, whatever, until the display goes blank. Turn off the car.

2. Turn the radio on again and it will say 'codE'. Press the 1,2,3,4 (radio preset) buttons to change each number. It will read something like 12:34. When the code is displayed press TAPE. If you get 'Err', try the next code the dealer gave you.

If this does not work, there may be a problem with the radio itself.

Good luck!
