Mitsubishi Repair: 97 eclipse gst dash light dimmer switch burnt out, subwoofer amp, eclipse gst

Question
The dashlight dimmer switch on my 97 gst burnt out so i replaced it and it immediatly burnt out again. Any idea why this is happening? I did install the remote wire (blue wire), rca wires, and power wire (from battery to amp) to my stereo for a subwoofer/amp (never hooked up wires to amp, jus ran them to the trunk) jus b4 this problem started happening...

Answer
Jacob,
You probably have a wire that connects from your deck to the dimmer switch; and this wire may be shorting out on the amp connection.  The best I can recommend is to inspect all the wire connections and make sure there are no exposed wires and that everything is making a tight connection.  You can also use a voltmeter and trace back from the dimmer switch to the deck to see if there are any voltage drops or shorts.
Good luck!
