Mitsubishi Repair: fuel pump problems, combustion chamber, relay switch

Question
recently while driving my eclipse, the engine stopped and would not restart. the fuel pump was replaced, but it still will not start. I have been browsing the net trying to find some answers. I read about a relay switch. Could this be why the car will not start? the pump is working, you can hear it turn on. Help!!!!!

Answer
Susan,
If the relay were the problem, then the fuel pump would not even turn on.  The 3 basic things your engine needs to run is fuel, air, and spark.  The proper amount of each must also be provided at the appropriate time.  The next steps would be to find out if the proper amount of fuel and air is making it into the combustion chamber, and that the spark is occurring at the proper time.  This may be something only your mechanic can confirm.
Good luck!
