Mitsubishi Repair: engine codes, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

i have a 2000 eclipse gs with a 2.4l 4 cyclinder and it has the check engine light on and is reading the code p0170 and i can not find out what the code means

That error code stands for a fuel trim malfunction.  It means your car's computer has tried many times to balance the air/fuel mixture and it has reached the threshold where a fault has been initiated. It's a very general code and many different components can trip it.  The main culprits for causing this code is a bad O2 sensor, bad spark plugs, or faulty mass air flow sensor.  Have those specific items checked and replaced if faulty.
