Mitsubishi Repair: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Odometer stopped working, crank angle sensor, coil pack

Question
Hello Anthony, i recently started to notice some issues in my dash board.  My needles would start jumping all over the place and sometimes would just drop to the off position.  Car would continue to run just fine.  three things i have done recently are changed the AC compressor, replaced the stero, and replaced broken timing belt (OUCH).  I noticed the after the new stero was when the needles on the dash started jumping.  When the timing belt broke it was happening more frequently and so i assumed it had to do with that.  Now i get it back and it still doing the same thing, only now my odometer wont work. :(  Any clues to what it might be?  fuse maybe?

Answer
Justin,
It sounds like the faulty tachometer sending unit.  I'm not familiar as to the location of that on your car, but usually it's either near the coil pack or part of the crank angle sensor.  If you have a service manual for your car, it should help explain how to diagnose.  Else, have your mechanic inspect it for you.
Good luck!
