Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Eclipse RS Dies At Idle, coolant temperature sensor, mass air sensor

Question
my 1995 mitsubishi eclipse rs intermittently shuts down at idle/low speeds. i have only observed it happen when the car is warm. usually the car turns right on again. sometimes it takes much longer for it to finally fire up (usually i will crank and crank and nothing happens, then when i hear the fuel pump cycle through, it will finally turn on again).

i have changed the coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, crank position sensor, and ecu. please help!!!

Answer
Amir,
You may have a problem with the throttle position sensor, throttle body, EGR valve, mass air sensor, or even the idle speed controller.  These are all components that measure and regulate airflow into the engine that the ECU relies on to make a proper air/fuel ratio.  This is type of problem is usually more obvious when the engine is at normal operating temperature, so keep track of your engine temp when this problem normally occurs.  The engine coolant temperature sensor can can also cause problems once the engine has warmed up.
Good luck!
