my alternator belt snapped and my battery light came on as normal my brake warning light also came on and brake pedal went hard also my water light came on is this all related or am i just very unlucky

All those lights normally come on when there's a problem with the charging system.  You'll also normally see those all those dash lights come on when you first start you car, and then they turn off after a few seconds if the engine is running properly.  Once you get your alternator belt replaced, you should be fine. As a precaution, it would be in good practice to get the other drive belts replaced as well.
