I am looking at buying a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. and need to know why the lights on the dash indicting your tires flash when you are driving down the road

The flashing light indicates that the 4WD is trying to engage.  This could indicate a problem with the switch that sends the signal to change the transfer case to put the car in 4WD.  You may want to have a mechanic inspect that switch and transfer case to see if this is an electronic problem of mechanical.
