Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse keeps shutting off., mitsubishi eclipse, auto parts stores

Question
I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 2.0 non turbo and a manual transmission.  It started with a bad battery.  I connected the battery charger terminals backwards and friend the computer.  I changed the computer and the car ran fine for a while, then a few days ago I was driving down the road and the car just shut off,  about 4hrs later the car started back up ran for a few minutes and shut back off again.  It will crank to no end and start about 10% of the time, but will not stay running.  When it's not starting , I know it's not firing from the ignition coil.  What could be the problem or problems here.

Thank you

Answer
Jimmy,
Along with frying the computer, you may have burnt out the alternator.  Reversing the polarity at the battery terminals can burn out the diode or the voltage regulator in the alternator.  Major auto parts stores like Autozone or Advance Auto can check your alternator for free.  You can remove the alternator and have them check it.
Good luck!
