Mitsubishi Repair: a/c water condensation leaking, water condensation, small drain

Question
Hi Anthony,

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES 4dr. I noticed while I was driving the other day with the A/C running, water started to leak out on the passenger side under the glove compartment. Every time I turned the wheel, the water will gush out even harder. Someone mention to me that the A/C drain may me clogged. Unfortunately, I do not have a driver's manual for the car and wouldn't know how to resolve/fix this issue. Please note: the A/C is still working fine (air is cold). Thanks.

John

Answer
John,
There is a small drain hose underneath the car on the passenger side where the water from the A/C is supposed to drip out when the A/C running.  Sometimes that drain hose can get clogged.  When that happens, the water is unable to drain out of the car and instead, builds up in the heater box and eventually starts draining out the air ducts on the floor of the car.  You can have your mechanic try unclogging that hose from outside the car.  It may just be some debris got stuck in there as you were driving.  Though if your mechanic is unable to remove the clog from the outside, they would most likely need to get into the heater core box and unclog it from the inside.
Good luck!
