Mitsubishi Repair: timing belt 1999 galant 4cyl.automatic, internal engine components, interference engine

Question
I just blew my timing belt. Can I just get it simply replaced,or, could there be more damage than just the belt?

Answer
E.,
Your Galant has an interference engine.  And typically if the T-belt snaps while driving, you'll damage internal engine components, like valves, guides, and even the piston heads.  You may want to have your mechanic pull the cylinder head and check those components for damage.  If there is damage, you'll need to have your cylinder head rebuilt or replaced.
Good luck!
