Mitsubishi Repair: AC Flooding onto floor on driver side, mitsubishi spyder, mitsubishi service

Question
Hello, I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Spyder and the driver's side floor and the back floor on the driver's side is wet/soaked with water. I can also feel and hear water making a gushing noise under my feet when I am driving.  Today, I noticed under my driver's side you can see where it is dripping onto the ground. The Mitsubishi service department said that they see this about twice a month and they said that it sounds like I have a clogged HVAC Box and it will cost $800.00 and around 8 hours to fix.  Could you tell me if it is possible for me to find where it is clogged so I can fix it myself?

Answer
Lindsey,
Sometimes it's simply the drain tube that's clogged.  That tube is located on the underside of the car, near the passenger side.  That tube can get clogged from road debris or even insects.  Sometimes a blasted of compressed air can free a clog.  If you have an air compressor or have a friend that has one, you could try to free the clog yourself.  Else, your local mechanic should be able to help you out, and may even try that fix for free if it works.  But since most dealerships charge around $100/hour, you may have a better deal having your local mechanic fix any clog even if they have to get into the heater box.
Good luck!
