Mitsubishi Repair: valves knocking, lifters, mechanic

i just recently bought 93' diamamte ls, automatic and already the the valves are knocking pretty loud, enough to make me not want to even drive it. what should i do to fix the knocking?

This sounds like your lifters could be clogged.  You can have your mechanic remove the lifters and clean them out.  You should also be sure you have clean oil in there, that's the proper amount and proper weight.  This may also help with the knocking.
