Mitsubishi Repair: 3000gt no start has power, fuse box, starter relay

Question
car: 1994 3000gt sl auto non turbo

I went out to start my car and it acted like it had a dead battery(it did) barely turned over and then clicked. I have a new battery good and tested. I get power to all acc and lights but when I go to start it all I get is a click inside on driver side where a relay is near fuse box. So I had starter brought in and tested bad. I bought a new one and had it tested and it is ok. Still have same problem so I thought it was ignition so I cut the wires behind ignition to hot wire and still have same problem(hooked them back up) I also tried to jump the car and still get nothing. it won't crank but has power.please,I need some advice.

Answer
Jason: Sounds like a bad relay to me, when you open the hood of the car, looking at the engine there are three black boxes in the engine department. One over on the driver's side of the car and two by the battery area. On the tops of these boxes should tell what relays or larger fuses are in them. You will have to check about a starter relay or larger fuse in them. Also some cars have the starter relay down under the dash inside the car. You should get a repair manual for your car, with a wire diagram in it and would explain better about those relays where they are at. Most parts stores have them, they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. Try for a Haynes they don't have so many models in them. Anyway, I would be checking for a bad relay or one of those larger fuses. Also if you find a bad relay or larger fuse, remember to take the neg cable off the battery, replace with new part and then put the cable back on. Or else you will blow the new part.God bless: Linda
