Mitsubishi Repair: battery replacement, batties, white dust

Question
i recently replaced my batteries for my remotes to my '02 Galant and now neither of them work...by that i mean no panic button, truck release, door lock/unlock etc....i replaced them with the same size as indidcated on the factory battery.....what can i do to get them to work? or do i need the exact same battery from the dealer? thanks for your help

Answer
Marcus: You sure you got the batteries in there right? Sometimes it is hard to read how to put the batteries into the remotes. Surely you got a book with your car, which would explain how to put them in and maybe with a picture too? You say remotes does that mean you have two of them and now either one is working? Could be you need to take the batteries out them, then see if there is a white dust where the batteries would sit in the remotes that should be cleaned out. Sometimes the remotes just stop working, due to dirt, age and what not. I would say after cleaning them, making sure you got the right batties and they are in right. Still it does not work for you, I would then go to the dealership to see what the problem might be. Could be the switch in the car that picks up the remotes is bad and would need to be replaced.
