Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 3.0 Eclipse Engine Misfire, engine misfire, newer cars

Question
QUESTION: Engine Misfire (Code P030030)was found & reset only to come up with code P0300. Replaced Distributor Cap & Rotor plus all plugs & wires & had injectors tested only to have same problem. Timing belt was repalced 1000 miles ago. What next??

ANSWER: Charles: You need to clear the computer off the code, it has not been cleared and in these newer cars you have to clear it. Or the computer will keep bring it up. You could try to remove the neg cable off the battery, wait 5 minutes and replace the cable to see if that will clear it. Sometimes it takes the computer a time to two to get reset or cleared. Gee your 2001 still has a Distributor Cap and rotor. Wow, I thought they took those off the car after 1999. Oh well you just need to clear the computer and then I think your car should run pretty good. Take care now. God bless: Linda

QUESTION: Code was cleared. Vehicle runs fine @ an idle. When put under a load it has a severe miss thus bringing back the 0300 code

Answer
Charles: Did you fix whatever the 0300 code was? As to fix the problem in the system? Other wise the computer is still picking up a problem and will not control the car to run right till that problem is fixed. I would be checking the wires, plugs too, as you might not have something done just right. You could have a vaccum leak also, they will cause the car to miss when under load also.Leak it knock a vaccum hose or small hose off when doing a tune up on a car. So you need to check those.
