Mitsubishi Repair: 94 mitsubishi transmission, mitsubishi transmission, best bet

Question
ok,so my 94 eclipse started having trouble going into reverse(5 speel manual) and when it is in 5th gear and you are driving if you let off the gas it goes into neutral.

so i looked under my car and noticed that the casing that covers the gears has a small hole busted in it.

so i took it off and notice that the top bolt was  really loose ,and the washer behind it has been slightly grinded up.

i hand tightened it and tryed to put it in reverse and it went in well,
i dont know what to torque it too so it wont come back out and cause more damage

the casing had a hole in it at the bottom set of gears but no gears have any damage to them, just the washer.

any help to this situation wuld be appreciated.

thank you,
dustin

Answer
Dustin: I would say your best bet would be to get to a parts store and buy a repair manual for your car. It would walk you through everything you need to know and more. I could walk you through things but what if you run into something else. Well then with the repair manual you could just look it up. One thing though that transmission and clutch is run by hydraulic, did you check the oil level for the clutch? Could be you have air in the line so the clutch is not working right. But again the repair manual would walk you through all this and more. The manual would cost around $20.00 at any parts store. Hope this helps some and God bless: Linda
