Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 gst, mass air flow sensor, air fuel ratio

Question
I'm looking it to buying a 1997 gst. i have not seen the car but the guy who owns it says that it only runs at idle than when you give it gas it bogs down ? the only thing i can think of is a mass air flow sensor? does the gst even have one > sorry im a honda tech and dont know much about theses cars yet.it also has major motor work done to it this is what he told me (every thing new bored 60 over forged pistons new cams and crank shaft balanced competition vaule job all new sensors new turbo new fule rails and injctors stage 3 clutch grate body window in bake leaks. the only reason im getting rid of this car is it needs a custom burnt computer in has a new stock one but with all the mods it wont come above idle )

please some one help me out!!! and if it is the computer is there even any shops anyone knows about on the east coast that can retune it?

Answer
Brian,
Retuning the existing computer may not be an option.  Though there are a number of piggy-back computers you can purchase that will most likely be needed to alter the air/fuel ratio.  With the upgrades made to that engine, there is a lot more air entering the engine.  With an excessive amount of air, your engine will require more fuel.  This may require a new fuel pump and larger injectors.  If there is not enough fuel getting to the engine (i.e. too much air), your engine may suffer from detonation. Detonation can cause misfires and and ruin the combustion chambers in your engine.  A more powerful fuel pump and piggy-back A/F ratio computer can prevent detonation from happening.  These upgrades can get a bit expensive so if you're looking to buy this car, be prepared to spend even more to get it running properly.
Good luck!
