Mitsubishi Repair: car is dying, shop mechanic, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
When im driving my car and i come to a stop it suddenly dies as if im driving a stick but its automatic it goes down to 0 rpm's but the battery is still running everything like the radio lights etc. it only happens when
im completely stoped but it shutters when im driving also its a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse rs automatic and its almost at 100000 miles so if any one could help me that would be great because i went to the shop and all they told me is its all due to my motor mounts and its not so i need advice thanks!

This sounds like you may have a faulty torque converter.  Your local shop mechanic may not be equipped to diagnosis this.  Bring your car to a transmission shop for inspection.  They may have better luck at finding the actual problem.
