Mitsubishi Repair: 98 Mitsubishi Galant ES, mitsubishi galant, galants

I have a 98 Mitsubishi Galant and my check engine light has been on and we can't find the problem. I was told to change the computer on the car. I have come across a computer for a 97 Mitsubishi Galant can this computer be used on a 98? Any information you can give will be helpful. Thank you!

If the check engine light is on, but the car seems to be operating properly, your problem is probably due to a faulty emissions component.  The computer used in the 1997 Galants are different from the ones in the 1998 Galants.  If you haven't already, get the codes read from the computer from a mechanic to help better pinpoint the problem.
