Mitsubishi Repair: horn not working, volt source, steering wheels

Question
Hi i have a 1997 galant the horn sometimes works if i push very hard but most of the times it doesn't work at all what do you think it could be and how would i fix it. i have taken steering wheels off before but never one with an air bag

Answer
Mike,
You should first check your high tone and low tone horns first.  If you apply a 12 volt source (e.g. you battery) directly to you horns, they should come on.  From there, you should trace back the circuit to see where you do not see 12 volts when the horn button is pressed.  If the problem is with the horn switch, you may want to have someone replace it for you if you're not comfortable working around the air bag.
Good luck!
