Mitsubishi Repair: a/c control panel lights do not work, mitsubishi 3000gt, c works

Question
QUESTION: I have a 92 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL, and the a/c works but the panel will not light up.  I cannot what the controls and how they are set.

ANSWER: Dionna: You need to check the fuse to see if it is ok. Is just the panel that controls the ac lights or all the lights in the dash? If just what controls the ac, then it could be that the light bulb is burnt out. I mean the car is a model 1992. I would be checking the fuse and then the lights. You should get yourself a repair manual, most parts stores sell them for around $20.00 and well worth the money. That manual would have pictures and explain how to take the piece apart to find out if the bulb is bad. If you do go to buy a manual try to get an Haynes better manual. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda

QUESTION: Sometimes a part of the panel will light dimly but it will black out.  What is the name for this piece, if we go to by a replacement part what should we ask for?

Answer
Dionna: when you go to the parts store to buy the part, get one of the guys to come out and see what part you are wanting. As there are many pieces to the inside of the car, and I am not sure on your 92 which that would be. They are more than willing to come out and see which one you are talking about. If sounds more like to me that you have a short in the wiring that runs the lights in that panel. But once you replace it with a new piece, you can check the wiring too. God bless: Linda
