Mitsubishi Repair: Eclipse 95 overheating, water coolant, coolant leak

Question
Hello,

I recently turbocharged my 95 eclipse RS (420a engine) and I have noted that it tends to overheat. This does not happen when the car is at idle but only when going at speeds higher than 60mph (freeways) or when boosting. I assume this is a little normal cause the turbo heats up pretty much everything but I know some people that are not having this problem... their cooling system is well capable of controlling this extra heat so I would like to know of a few recommendations to do in order to fix this problem. I kind of was thinking of replacing thermostat (but I did this about 2 years ago... how can you tell if that is wrong) and flushing the radiator or things of that sense. I havent noticed any water/coolant leak but obviously since my car is running a little hotter at some times I do experience a little, but not critical, loss of water/coolant because I assume it is evaporating.

I can also control the overheat somehow by turning the AC since both fans start working but then after a little bit the AC starts becoming another load and it overheats as well.

Does anyone know how can I fix this? Obviously I am running low on money because turbocharging my car was a little expensive!?

Anyway, I hope you can help me with some advice. Thanks.

Answer
Arev: Get your water pump checked out, I would say it is not working right at all. The water pump moves the water around the engine to keep it cool, don't wait on this because if the water pump is weak and not doing its job right. You will with time cook the head gaskets and then will be a costly job to fix that. God bless: Linda
