Mitsubishi Repair: Ghost Code, coolant temperature, radiator cap

Question
I got a 95 Eclipse, 2.0, RS Manual FWD with a Code PO0118 which is the Electronic Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor circuit high input. I have change this sensor twice, test them for its resistance and they are ok. Checked the wiring from the sensor to the ECU they are also with the spec's. What else can be bringing this code back.

Answer
Rafael,
Make sure your coolant is clean and has the proper anti-freeze/water ratio.  If the engine is actually running hot because of bad coolant, a poor thermostat, or faulty radiator cap, it can cause these codes.  A malfunctioning ECU can also throw codes even when sensors are ok.  You may want to have the ECU pulled and checked for damage.  Older Mitsubishi ECUs have been known to have capacitors that would leak over time and cause problems.
Good luck!
