Mitsubishi Repair: air conditioning, temperature sensor, half the time

I have a 02 oz rally lancer with about 84000 miles on it and my a/c started acting wierd not too long ago...It only works like half the time I turn it on. When it works it blows super cold and everything's great but when it doesn't it's warm so I'm not sure what's wrong because when it runs I hear the compressor kick in, so I'm not really sure what the problem is

You may have a faulty temperature sensor that initiates the compressor to come on.  You might even have a bad compressor or worn A/C compressor relay.  I'd recommend you have the A/C checked for proper refrigerant levels and have the sensors and compressor inspected as well.
