Mitsubishi Repair: car question, mitsubishi eclipse gt, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT(3.0), automatic transmission. The problem originally started out my rpm was idling low and if I came to a stop the car would cut off, so I would make sure when I came to a stop I would put the car in neutral and keep the rpm idled high. I stopped driving my car for 2 weeks and its running ok in traffic except when I have the air conditioner running. I can run the air if the rpm are high but the minute I come to a stop I have to turn the air off because the rpm will idle low and the car will cut off. Can I please have some of your expertise
Thanks

Answer
Christina,
You may just need a tune-up.  You could have worn spark plugs, a clogged air filter, or clogged fuel filter.  Running the A/C will put an extra strain on the engine and if there is a weak component, the engine can idle low and stall.  Have a mechanic check your car and give it a tune-up with at least the items I've mentioned.  Also be sure the mechanic checks the battery, alternator and ignition timing as well.
Good luck!
