Answer
Stuart: You can order a repair manual on line for you car or else try a parts store to get one. They cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. Are you sure the cables are in good shape that hook to the battery and are you sure they are tight? In that if you try to move the cable the whole battery moves? These little cars want those cables tight and I mean tight. Does the car try to start, I mean anything? If you follow the + cable off the battery on down into the engine, you will find your way to the starter. They do go out and have to be replaced. Why did you put in a new a battery? Could be the alternator is bad too, but you can have that tested to see if it is. The battery is only as good as the alternator, how about the belts that run the alternator are they good too? Well wait the belt as in one. Did the car just stop working and so you thought of a battery? Has the timing belt ever been changed in this car? It could be that has broken so the engine will not then start. But still check those cables, the tightness of them and see about the starter too first. Also are you sure you have the battery hooked up right? Red cable on the + of the battery and the black cable on the - side of the battery.  Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
