Question
o.k. got a 95 eclipse we took out its motor and transmission and replaced it with ones that came out of a 97 thats was working at the time in the other car before we replaced it in the 95.But, now when it goes into 2nd gear in this car it wont come out of 2nd gear until we turn the motor off and start it again but it stays in 2nd gear not sure why when it worked in the 97 eclipse. does it have another computer box, other then the one under the passenger side dash .. thanks a lot.

Answer
April: But listen you have to change the computer too. Because the computer is working with the engine and transmission you took out. Because things don't work right, the computer is now putting the transmission into what is called a "safe mode", you need to change computers one that will go with the 97 engine and transmission. No it should only have one computer. Another thing to do would be to have the computer coded, as it might show up as to what is the problem too. But the computer does control the transmission a long with the engine with the help of all kinds of sensors. But now the computer is for a engine and transmission from a year of 1995 and it can not read the sensors for that year of 1997. So it puts the transmission into that "safe mode" to keep you from damaging the transmission. So have the car coded and then see about getting a different computer. God bless: Linda
