Mitsubishi Repair: Problems w/ my 94 eclipse transmission, proper lubrication, electrical harness

my 1994 Eclipse is starting in second gear and jumping from gear to gear after the trani was rebuilt. the mechanic is telling me, there is no power going to the solenoids and its in "fail safe mode." could this be true?

This does sound like your transmission is going into fail safe mode.  If your tranny is really bad, it will stay in 3rd gear permanently.  You should have your mechanic inspect your transmission computer and electrical harness.  Proper lubrication is also essential, so keep an eye on your fluid level.
