Mitsubishi Repair: timing, air fuel ratio, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
i have a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse 4cylinder 1.8. liter engin i put a racing cam in it and dome top racing pistons 60.over in it now i cant get it to fire do you have any suggestions on how to fix that

Answer
Philip,
I'm not too familiar with engine enhancements for the older 1.8L engines.  You may need to adjust the timing to allow for the new cam.  This may require retarding the timing.  It's possible your compression is too high with the newer pistons.  Also, your fuel pump may not be able to supply enough gas to balance out the air/fuel ratio now that a significant amount more air is getting into the engine.  Your car's computer will not let the car start if it detects too much air entering the engine.  This is to prevent detention.  Older Mitusbishis are also known for having troublesome computers.  You can read this article for more information:

Good luck!
