Mitsubishi Repair: Transmision, white smoke, 3000gt

Hey linda,i wanted to ask you i have a 3000gt 1993,which had a problem with white smoke it got fixed they replaced the heads and timing belt.which cost 1300 to fix.Now 3 weeks later the transmision breaks sometimes you put D an gets stuck in 3 gear.the question is should i pay 1200 to fix my transmision or should i buy another car?.my gt has 139,007 miles.its automatic and it was being driven in OD off.which only gave 3 gears.

Pierre: The computer is picking up a problem in your transmission with a sensor maybe or something else so it is putting the transmission is what they call "Safety Mode" where the computer lockes the transmission well it will not let it shift higher than 3 gear as to save the transmission. You could try changing the transmission fluild, filter and add a bottle of transmission conditioner(buy this at most parts stores) that might buy you some time as to trade the car off. I know you put a lot of money into the car but it sounds like to it is going down hill from here. You have taken about all it has to give and so I would trade it off. Other wise you might have to either rebuild or replace the transmission. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
