Mitsubishi Repair: RVR GDI Jap import Ireland 1.8 Petrol: Bad idle, advance pitstop, jap import

Hi Linda

We have an RVR (year2000) that has been displaying a problem on and off for
the last two years.  When the engine is started id does not idle well and then
cuts out. It also revs up and down during this situation.  I have read other
posts on the Mitsubishi Repair pages and I want to eliminate possible causes
before moving on to new solutions.

The problem initially started as small. Occasionally the car would cut out after
about 15—30 seconds idle. (Sep 2006) My first reaction was to get the
battery changed. This was a Jap import (year 2000 ) and the original battery
was still in the car.  The chaps at advance Pitstop (ireland) replaced the
battery and

Stephen: Have the car coded to see what the computer might tell you is going on with the car. It controls about everything in that car with the help of many sensors through out the engine. If the car is cutting out that sounds more like a computer problem but also I would check the fuel pump to make sure it is putting out enough fuel pressure. Both are pretty easy tests and might show you a lot with your problems. I hope this helps and God bless: Linda
