Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Stereo OFF, eclipse stereo, mitsubishi eclipse

My son's just got a '97 and the stereo just says "OFF".  We can't reset the code, even though we have the card with the code on it.  The owners manual says "Take it to the Dealer". I can't believe that it's not a special code or process that can reset the stereo to allow entering the code? Help!!

Hi, you only have 3 chances to enter it. If you enter it wrong 3 times, your radio will display "OFF". Then you'll be locked out from entering your code. If that happens, you'll need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to the ACC position and leave it there for about
45 minutes. That will reset your radio and you can have 3 more chances. During the three chances you should be all set as long as you enter the right code of your card. I hope this helps, please give me an update on this problem and also when you get a chance please rate me thanks again,Kevin
