Mitsubishi Repair: 97 montero sport, air fuel mixture, clogged catalytic converter

Question
97 montero sport w/3.0 runs forabout15 minutes then acts like it goes into limp home mode/runs like crap and surges wont get out of its own way any ideals, some one has put on new mass air

Answer
OK firs thing is.
1. Did this loss of power occur somewhat suddenly?
If yes possible Problem with fuel injection or ignition systems.

This power loss occurred somewhat suddenly, as
you indicated.  This problem is often caused by a sudden
failure of either a fuel injection or ignition system component.
Let's look at the possibilities...
Fuel Injection System - A fuel injection component could be
failing in such a way that the engine isn't getting enough fuel.
Hence, a lack of fuel = a lack of power.  In particular, one or
more of the fuel injectors may be clogged or, worse, one of
the electronic sensors that controls the fuel injection system
may be faulty.
Ignition System - The ignition system provides current to the
spark plugs, causing them to ignite the air/fuel mixture in the
engine's combustion chambers... this is the source of the
engine's power.  So then, if one or more of the spark plugs
isn't firing (or at least not firing when it should), the result will
be a lack of power.

If No then this means the power loss has been gradual. For a high mileage vehicle such as this one(I ASSUME) a gradual loss of power usually indicates "Weak Engine compression"... But.. Another Possibility is a "Clogged catalytic converter" This condition will not only result in power loss , It'll also cause a significant reduction in the vehicle's top speed.

with that said is this cars top speed significantly less then it once was?

If Yes Then possible clogged catalyic converter!
If no then we rule out "Clogged catalyic converter". This brings us back to our original suspicion which was Weak compression.

I know this is allot of info but the more the better right? I hope this helps if it does not please let me know, Thanks again,Kevin.
