Mitsubishi Repair: Heater core O-rings?, car defroster, foggy windows

Our 01 diamonte has very foggy windows (inside car)- defroster works but it doesn't help. There's almost a fine coating on the inside of the windows. Car also has a funny smell inside. After searching the internet - I came across some info regarding heater core o-rings. Does this problem sound like we need to have them replaced? Before I go to the dealer to get totally ripped off - can general repair people do this? Thanks -

Vicki; Your car is putting coolant into the heater and so you are now getting coolant inside the car. I would say there is a problem with the heater core or else there is a seal out, a hose with a small hole in it or something on that order. But I would be getting this fixed as it is not good for you or your family to be getting coolant into the air you are breathing. I hope this helps and God bless: Linda
