Mitsubishi Repair: My transmission is messed up, transmission shop, merry christmas

QUESTION: My car was slipping into neutral last week but just yesterday it wouldn't ho into drive. When i press on the gas it sounds like i'm in park and I'm preesing on the gas. please tell me what you think is wrong

ANSWER: Laporsha: Try changing the fluid and the filter to see if that might help your problem. Sometimes that will fix things like you are talking about. Other wise you will have to check with a transmission shop to see whatever you might do. Merry Christmas now. Linda

QUESTION: It is moving so i'll try that THANKS! ButI've heard that because my car so old if I change the fluid it can blow out the transmission is that true?

Laporsha: Never heard that one, you might add a bit of transmission conditioner you can buy that at any parts store and it would help condition the old transmission. If putting in new fluid and a new filter would blow the transmission than replacing the stark plugs or the oil in a old engine could blow it up too. Only in most cases that helps that old engine, as putting in new fluid and new filter would help your old transmission. I am not saying this will fix your problem and you might have to either replace or rebuild it anyway. But sure the heck couldn't hurt. Merry Christmas now: Linda
