Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 Mits Lancer-Runs Rough At Temperature, many different things, older cars


Question
Vehicle is a 2002 Lancer-Cold start up is good and idles well-once engine is at operating temp it has a reduced power as the clutch is depressed for take off.  Could it be a faulty temp sender to the EMS? where is it located and what is the description of the part if I am correct?

Doug: Got an AutoZobne close by? They will code your car for free and then you would know if the problem was something to do with a sensor. I mean this could be one of many different things. 2002 is pretty new for me, I work on older cars. You could try to buy yourself a repair manual for your car at a parts store, they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. It would walk you through what you are asking, explain how to find and how to fix. It would also give you other ideas as to what might be wrong if it was not that faulty temp sender. Maybe you should have the fuel pump tested. You know the fuel keeps the pump cool, if you run the car down to empty to much; well you could have cooked the pump.
