Mitsubishi Repair: Engine Problem, fifth time, autozone

Question
I have a 2001 Eclipse RS. My car has about 130000 miles on it and have not had any issues until now. I drove to the store and when I came back out of the store I tried to start the car. It turned on but then it just died after that. Did this 4 more times and the same thing. Then on the fifth time it started and I was able to drive the car home. I then drove the car again later and I was able to drive about a mile before the car died again. I tried to start the car 4 times then on the fifth time it started and I was able to drive it home. Any ideas on what this could be?

Answer
Rob: I would have the computer coded to see if it kicks out any problem. It sounds like a weak sensor someplace but it could be one of many things. So get the car coded, where the shop hooks their computer to your car's computer and see what is kicked out. You could explain to the shop what the car is doing and they could find the problem too. But if you got an AutoZone in your area they would code the car for free. Just a question here but with 130000 miles on your car, have you ever had the timing belt replaced? It would be something to think about. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
