Pat: Did you get the car coded as to see what the computer is doing in all this? Could be a bad or weak sensor someplace. If you can not find the problem, you might have to take the car to a shop and let them find it for you. I understand it is a good car and you want to keep it on the road as long as possible. But shops have better tools for checking things and could most likely get to the bottom of your problem right fast. I understand about the phone book full of ideas. It is just all I can do right now, is give you an idea and hope it fixes the problem. But if not take the car to a shop or the dealership and let them find the problem so fix it.
