Mitsubishi Repair: 1989 2.4L Petrol Triton misfire, vacuum leak, carby

Question
Hi Linda, My ute misfires at med to low revs. Sometimes the spark jumps from the coil to earth, more at low revs. I have replaced the dizzy cap, leads and plugs and checked the timimng. I gave the carby an overhaul as well while I was at it as it was running a bit hot and I thought it may be a bit lean. I haven't adjusted any mixtures though.I am hoping it isn't but do you think it might be the ignition module? Thanks

Answer
Steve: You need to have your car coded, as to check the computer and all the sensors through out the engine. As the computer gets its readings from those sensors and then sets up how the engine should run. Even a 1989 car has a computer and those sensors. So I would have that checked to either rules out that as a problem or it is the problem. If that proves to be ok, then I would check the ignition module but also a vacuum leak might be causing problems too. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
