Mitsubishi Repair: confused with idle problem, newer cars, right fuel

Question
hey linda ok so i have a 2003 eclipse gts and my problem started when one
day my car died at a light ever sence then it kept idling at around 600 and
when driving when i put the clutch in it sometimes dropped below 500 and
came just barely back over. checked my intake for leaks reset my computer
and checked my belts perfect. i run nothing but premium gas mobile 1 Lucas
and sea foam every so often. last night i decided to check my throttle body to
see if it might be sticky or dirty and it was so i took it off and cleaned it put it
back together and now i am getting idle surge going over and under 1k rpm.
really hoping my ics isn't out now but what do you think p.s. it stops surging
when my fan kicks on

Answer
James: Got an AutoZone close by? I would get the car coded to see what the computer might kick out with this problem. Sounds like to me one of the sensors is not being read right by the computer. So the computer is not setting up how the engine should run, right. There is a sensor is that throttle body that tells the computer what is going on and then the computer sets things up. Only things are not working right. The computer is only as good as its sensors. I don't know why the surging stops when the fans kick in, other then it makes the engine work harder, pulls more power and the such. Oh well have that computer coded, AutoZone would do it for free other wise you will have to find a shop to do this for you. Oh hey James these newer cars don't break don't you know that? lol. Oh just kidding but sounds like a weak sensor(s) and sometimes the computer kicks that check engine light on and sometimes not. You know it takes three things for that car to run right, fuel, air, stark but a computer to put it all together right so the engine runs right. So there I think would a problem with the computer or those sensors. I hope this helps some and God bless: Linda
