Mitsubishi Repair: question about eclipse, mitsubishi spyder, main bearings

Question
Hi Linda.

I have several questions first of all im looking for a turbo kit for my mitsubishi spyder 97 model with a SOHC 2.4 litter but i cant seem to be able to find one i was wondering if theres anything available for SOHC's ive found several kits for DOHC's tho
my other question is.
for a while at low rpms i could hear a tapping noise on my engine, so i overhauled the engine new pistons, rods, rings, rod and main bearings, new gaskets and seals did the valve job to the head, new manifold, all new belts even the harmonic balancer (wich i thought it was the problem because when i pulled the engine out there where pieces of the belt stuck on the pulleys). put everything togheter, and guess what THE FRIKIN NOISE STILL THERE!!... i would like to get that fixed before i get the turbo if theres anything available.

Please help.

Edgar.

Answer
I'll leave the turbo install for this site...

With engine noises, they need to be isolated first to help narrow down the possibilities.  I would suspect it's a bad lifter, but another option is that you have a bad sparkplug wire that is arcing to the side of the spark plug well. Using a large screwdriver/prybar, place the metal end on the block and put your ear to the screwdriver. Move the contact point around until you find the loudest area. You'll need to place it on the block, head and even the valve covers. Also, open the oil fill cap and see if the noise is louder in there.  To check the adjusters, you can remove the valvecover and put pressure onto each rocker (each rocker must be positioned on the flat of the camlobe, not the lift portion), pushing down, if any of them are easy to push then that adjuster is defective.
